After 13 long years, the classic lineup of Evan Seinfeld, Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel, and Danny Schuler has returned with a track that reminds us exactly why they're one of the most vital bands in metallic hardcore.
Forsaken delivers that signature Brooklyn beat with a raw, unpolished energy we've been waiting for. From the opening riff to the dual vocal assault of Seinfeld and Graziadei, this song is pure, unadulterated Biohazard.

00:00:04.530 [Laughter]
00:00:06.160 You look like a man who's ready to step
00:00:07.839 to the uh to the rhythm of the Brooklyn
00:00:09.760 beat, my friend.
00:00:11.200 Yeah, I feel a little forsaken. Not
00:00:13.440 going to lie to you. I feel like I'm on
00:00:15.200 the wrong side of the tracks. There's a
00:00:16.640 whole bunch of jokes in here.
00:00:18.400 Yes, you are. And we could just go all
00:00:19.920 day long, but let's skip past that
00:00:21.279 nonsense and get right to uh the latest
00:00:23.519 track. What do you got? No, don't don't
00:00:25.840 give me any lip because I will teach you
00:00:28.320 about urban discipline.
00:00:31.359 We are talking about uh Forsaken, the
00:00:34.640 latest from uh Biohazard. And to say
00:00:37.520 it's the latest is an understatement.
00:00:39.120 It's been what 12 13 years.
00:00:41.600 It's been a long time since Biohazard
00:00:43.840 put out anything. Uh I was fortunate
00:00:45.680 enough to see them in Philadelphia at a
00:00:47.200 metal fest when they first got back
00:00:48.960 together. Punishment is one of my
00:00:51.280 favorite metal songs of all time. I love
00:00:53.760 the riff. Um I I love everything about
00:00:57.360 what Evan Seinfeld has to say within the
00:00:59.920 song itself. And so for them to come
00:01:02.160 back, it's like, you know, some heroes
00:01:04.080 that have returned from the dead a
00:01:05.920 little bit for me.
00:01:06.720 Yeah. And this is the original lineup,
00:01:08.400 too, right?
00:01:08.960 It is the original lineup. Uh Billy,
00:01:11.040 Bobby Hamble, uh Danny Scheler, and Evan
00:01:13.680 Seinfeld. And Billy is Billy Gratzay. I
00:01:17.200 think I said that correctly. But yeah,
00:01:19.200 this is the original lineup from back in
00:01:20.880 the beginning. And uh it's really
00:01:22.560 awesome to have them back and they
00:01:24.000 really haven't missed a beat.
00:01:27.040 [Music]
00:01:35.840 It's cool. This uh this track Forsaken
00:01:38.400 is well the the fourthcoming album we
00:01:41.600 don't have a date on yet. Is that right?
00:01:43.360 That is correct.
00:01:44.400 Yeah. Uh hopefully it's indicative of of
00:01:46.640 what we're going to get with the rest of
00:01:48.399 whatever the album is that hopefully
00:01:50.079 comes out sooner than later. It's it's
00:01:52.320 great, man. It's raw enough to be, you
00:01:55.360 know, old school biohazard, but polished
00:01:58.960 just enough to sit really well in within
00:02:02.399 the context of, you know, modern metal
00:02:04.079 recordings. I think they did a great job
00:02:05.920 with it.
00:02:06.399 Yeah. I mean, it's look, it's New York
00:02:08.639 hardcore metal, whatever you want to
00:02:11.440 call it. Um, and you know, I think it's
00:02:13.599 fitting that you've got green, typo
00:02:15.360 negative green behind you for this, you
00:02:17.680 know, this podcast because, you know,
00:02:20.160 they're very New York uh through and
00:02:22.480 through and you feel it in their music.
00:02:24.480 You always have politically. They're,
00:02:26.800 you know, they're really are talking
00:02:28.640 about the underdog an awful lot. And I
00:02:31.040 think a lot of people that are, you
00:02:32.800 know, on the wrong side of the tracks or
00:02:34.879 don't, you know, have generational
00:02:36.879 wealth feel forsaken. And so this is
00:02:39.760 really an anthem for a lot of people.
00:02:41.840 They also speak broken English on this
00:02:44.640 as you can tell during the chorus and
00:02:46.720 that's done on purpose to speak to those
00:02:48.879 folks that feel wrong. This song hits
00:02:51.680 home right at the right time for a lot
00:02:53.440 of people. They always seem to come back
00:02:55.760 at the time when the world kind of needs
00:02:57.760 biohazards
00:02:59.280 um voice to speak for those that are in
00:03:02.239 the urban world that are not being heard
00:03:04.800 necessarily.
00:03:05.680 Yeah. those of us who are not
00:03:07.120 independently wealthy and and and maybe
00:03:10.640 if we're lucky there's one comma in uh
00:03:13.840 in the total amount of our bank account
00:03:15.920 balances,
00:03:17.440 you know, much less two or three. Yeah,
00:03:20.319 it's it's easy to feel like you don't
00:03:22.560 count anymore. you don't matter in in
00:03:25.599 the now we are apolitical here on
00:03:28.400 talk but
00:03:30.159 yeah in the in the current climate and
00:03:33.360 with what the messaging is as far as
00:03:35.760 who's important and who isn't it's kind
00:03:37.519 of ugly times and so as you said this is
00:03:39.840 kind of a fitting track for for today I
00:03:42.560 I think there's a lot of people out
00:03:44.080 there and again not to get political
00:03:46.000 there's billionaires fighting with
00:03:47.519 billionaires arguing in the news and the
00:03:49.760 news is eating it up and guess who owns
00:03:51.440 the news channels the billionaires
00:03:53.200 Right. And so it's easy for a lot of
00:03:57.040 people to gravitate towards the message
00:03:59.680 that Biohazard has. And the song
00:04:02.080 Forsaken is that it is angry. It is
00:04:05.120 pissed off. It is understanding of why
00:04:08.000 people are feeling the way that they
00:04:10.560 feel and feeling forsaken. And it helps
00:04:13.040 that they brought back a lot of guitar
00:04:14.879 driven work. And Bobby Hamill is
00:04:16.560 actually allowed to do guitar solos.
00:04:18.880 There's some good kicking hardcore riffs
00:04:21.519 in there that, you know, some of their
00:04:23.199 work in the recent albums, and when I
00:04:25.919 say recent, the last, you know, 25 years
00:04:28.720 haven't really been guitar driven.
00:04:30.880 They've been more bouncy kind of, a
00:04:33.440 little more vocally driven, a little
00:04:35.600 more rappy. This is going back to their
00:04:38.080 roots a little bit more and letting the
00:04:39.600 guitars fly, which I embrace. I think
00:04:41.520 it's great. I hope I hope that the next
00:04:43.440 the full record is actually all guitar
00:04:45.680 driven and Bobby is front and center.
00:04:54.670 [Music]
00:04:59.520 Yeah, it's the kind of uh this this
00:05:01.440 track is I'm picturing that uh and
00:05:04.240 perhaps now they've played it live once
00:05:06.240 or twice, but I'm picturing it a piece
00:05:08.880 of music that is going to spool up a
00:05:10.639 crowd and get get some circular motion
00:05:13.120 out on the floor.
00:05:14.240 Yeah, absolutely. And you know, again,
00:05:16.639 shades of gray. You know, it's this is
00:05:18.880 this song is shades of the past for
00:05:20.880 them. And I'm really happy that they're
00:05:23.680 back. I'm really happy that Billy and
00:05:25.680 Bobby are are um their guitar work is
00:05:28.240 actually front and center. And Evan
00:05:30.160 doesn't sound any different. Evan sounds
00:05:32.240 like Evan. And uh he took a long
00:05:35.120 reprieve from music. And you know,
00:05:36.960 you're a musician. You know, do you lose
00:05:38.639 your chops? Do does it does it go away?
00:05:40.880 And so you for it looks like he hasn't
00:05:42.960 missed a beat. If anything, he sounds
00:05:44.560 better than he ever has.
00:05:45.759 Yeah, the vocals are are great on this.
00:05:47.680 And I know it's dueling vocals with Evan
00:05:50.080 and Billy, and they complement each
00:05:52.080 other. Their voices complement each
00:05:53.759 other really really well. The gang
00:05:55.840 vocals in the background are really
00:05:57.520 thick and nasty, and it's great. I was
00:06:00.000 uh I wasn't sure what to expect because
00:06:01.759 it it has been a while and and we talk
00:06:04.000 all the time about how bands are allowed
00:06:05.680 to change and styles evolve over the
00:06:07.600 years. Well, these guys, you know,
00:06:09.440 certainly as the the original members
00:06:11.840 have had a long time where their musical
00:06:15.120 ethos, you know, may have evolved and
00:06:17.680 changed a bit. And uh if this is an
00:06:20.160 indicator of what they're up to, I'm
00:06:22.639 excited about it because it's it's a
00:06:24.479 little less hip-hoppy, you know, with
00:06:26.880 some of their their older older
00:06:28.800 material, I like this. It's more
00:06:30.560 straight ahead, just hardcore, you know,
00:06:32.800 bat to the face kind of stuff. This
00:06:34.960 again, if this single is any indication
00:06:37.520 of what's to come, I'm excited. I'm
00:06:39.759 really uh looking forward to hearing it.
00:06:41.440 This is my favorite track since State of
00:06:43.440 World address. You know, Urban
00:06:45.120 Discipline and State of World address to
00:06:46.800 me were the high water marks. And then
00:06:48.800 after that, it kind of fell off. I was
00:06:50.880 really pleasantly surprised. I had no
00:06:52.880 expectations going in, but when I heard
00:06:54.479 the riffs, all I could see was Circle
00:06:57.199 Pits and a lot of happy people and a lot
00:06:59.759 of old school Biohazard fans being
00:07:01.840 excited. And then even the new kids that
00:07:04.800 think the turn style is pretty badass um
00:07:08.080 would probably find common ground with
00:07:09.919 this track as well.
00:07:10.880 Yeah. Could you imagine like uh a bill
00:07:13.599 like the touring bill say biohazard turn
00:07:17.280 style? I don't know maybe doomsday.
00:07:19.599 Sure. Yeah. There's a little bit of
00:07:21.280 crossover thrash in there. There's some
00:07:22.960 hardcore. There's some salsa dancing for
00:07:26.240 turn style. you know, uh, along with,
00:07:28.800 you know, if they still play some of
00:07:30.319 their older stuff, some good breakdowns,
00:07:32.080 but it would be a really good collision
00:07:33.840 of, um, new meets old. And I'd love to
00:07:36.800 see Biohazard be the flagship on that. I
00:07:39.599 think turn style is probably more
00:07:41.039 popular right now. But that's not to say
00:07:43.360 that if Biohazard puts out a banger and
00:07:45.360 there's, you know, 10, 12 tracks that
00:07:47.039 are soup to nuts start to finish, rip
00:07:49.520 your head off, and leave your stump
00:07:50.880 bleeding and your your, you know, head
00:07:52.639 on the floor smiling, then maybe they do
00:07:55.199 headline overturn style. Who knows? But
00:07:57.599 uh it's great to have them back. They
00:07:59.360 seem invigorated. They seem excited and
00:08:01.599 uh it's awesome that Biohazard has a
00:08:03.599 place and that their voice is actually
00:08:05.360 resonating in the in the real the the
00:08:07.680 conflicted world that we live in.
00:08:09.280 Yeah. Yeah. Well, it's a great song and
00:08:11.520 uh uh what do we got? They're touring
00:08:13.280 this fall with Onyx and a couple other
00:08:15.440 support acts as well. Uh don't I don't
00:08:17.840 know if there's dates out or not for
00:08:19.199 that yet. I didn't look, but uh
00:08:20.560 there is and it's it it's on all of the
00:08:22.400 socials and you can go check it out and
00:08:24.319 um you know, they're going to be out and
00:08:26.000 about. I know that they've done some
00:08:27.919 shows over in Europe and uh all that
00:08:30.400 material is on the YouTubes and uh so go
00:08:33.519 check that out as well.
00:08:34.559 God, you know, it just occurred to me.
00:08:36.000 Yeah. I here I am saying I don't know if
00:08:37.919 the dates for a fall tour are out. Fall
00:08:39.760 starts in like a week.
00:08:41.599 Yeah. Yeah. Football training camp is
00:08:43.360 starting for that. You know, that the
00:08:44.880 football that's shaped like the oblong
00:08:48.160 ball, right? So, you're aware of that?
00:08:50.080 Yeah. Football training camp is
00:08:51.680 starting.
00:08:52.240 I've started thinking about fantasy
00:08:54.240 football, which I'm not ready to do it.
00:08:56.880 You know, it's it's summer and uh still
00:08:59.120 summer.
00:08:59.680 Yeah. You know, and I don't want to
00:09:00.959 think about it. I'm not ready for a
00:09:02.640 pumpkin spice yet.
00:09:03.760 I appreciate that. And feel free. The my
00:09:06.000 invites have already gone out for my
00:09:07.519 fantasy fantasy football teams.
00:09:09.519 Yeah.
00:09:09.920 And that's where me and other people
00:09:11.519 just sit around and fantasize about
00:09:13.360 playing fantasy football.
00:09:15.040 Pass. You sound like a loser, dude.
00:09:17.120 Seriously, you just sit in your typo
00:09:19.519 negative green drum studio there and
00:09:21.200 play drums. That's probably a better use
00:09:23.279 of your time.
00:09:24.000 It is definitely fantasy fantasy.
00:09:26.080 Yeah. Okay.
00:09:27.200 All right. Good stuff on that. Go suck
00:09:29.839 it. you.
