00:00:04.720 hey what's up man let's talk carb bomb
00:00:06.960 yeah I generally don't like car bombs uh
00:00:09.519 but in this case we'll make an exception
00:00:12.080 that's a fair statement yeah uh are you
00:00:14.480 familiar with car bomb i was not i know
00:00:16.720 you did a written review back when we
00:00:18.720 were had ambition to write a lot of you
00:00:21.760 know write reviews to go along with
00:00:23.760 doing podcasts and then we realized that
00:00:27.039 time is of the essence and we don't have
00:00:28.720 enough of it y but uh I do remember that
00:00:32.159 album and you really were into it i
00:00:34.000 listened to it and uh but I got to say
00:00:36.559 that the new release is wicked
00:00:40.200 [Applause]
00:00:40.790 [Music]
00:00:52.800 yeah yeah that the last album was 23
00:00:54.960 Live in Santa Cruz which was killer um
00:00:58.000 they've got four other albums uh
00:01:00.640 Centriia the Wave Form album forgive the
00:01:04.239 dinging and donging here uh the Wave
00:01:06.320 Form album from 2012 Meta in 2016 and
00:01:11.200 Morgil in 2019 and these guys are so far
00:01:15.680 [ __ ] out there i just I love
00:01:18.080 everything they do they are so good they
00:01:20.960 are a blending of two bands i think it
00:01:23.439 was back in 2000 early 2000s 2002 2003
00:01:27.040 uh a couple of the guys neck and spooge
00:01:29.360 neck and spooge i'm telling you though I
00:01:31.280 do question why they didn't just call
00:01:32.720 themselves neck spooge but that's
00:01:34.799 neither here nor there i'm rather fond
00:01:37.040 of the word spooge pretty good word well
00:01:40.159 here's what here's what I love about
00:01:41.759 Carbomb man to me carbomb is like and
00:01:45.439 you know me I love the really
00:01:46.799 progressive metal the the stranger the
00:01:49.600 better but to me carbomb is like if
00:01:52.399 someone was reciting the alphabet to you
00:01:54.960 in another language like you know what
00:01:58.240 it is but you don't really get it but
00:02:00.640 it's still very familiar dynamic changes
00:02:04.000 for sure a turn of a dime along the way
00:02:07.119 uh for me you know listening to the new
00:02:11.120 track uh Peroxism did I say that perox
00:02:13.840 yep peroxism it to me is a lot of masha
00:02:17.440 a little bit of Pantara and a little bit
00:02:19.599 of um Lamb of God and those are three
00:02:24.640 pretty good heavy hitters and I was
00:02:28.239 enthused to say the least by those
00:02:31.040 comparisons and I've been driving around
00:02:32.959 playing it on repeat my two cats and dog
00:02:36.080 here are sick of it
00:02:44.160 but yeah it's a it's a wicked record and
00:02:46.480 even the guitar solo that's at the end
00:02:48.800 sounds tonality like Frederick from Muga
00:02:52.879 i don't want to take anything from any
00:02:54.879 of the other guys in the band michael
00:02:56.480 Daverner on vocals John uh model or
00:02:59.519 Modell on bass Greg Kubaki on guitar and
00:03:02.239 Elliot Hoffman on drums these guys are
00:03:04.239 all top top top-notch players and
00:03:06.560 they're all fantastic at what they do i
00:03:08.800 believe Greg uh does the majority of the
00:03:11.120 writing and I believe he produces as
00:03:13.440 well and this guy is unbelievable i've
00:03:16.959 been a fan of his since the first time I
00:03:18.560 heard Carb Bomb five six years ago and
00:03:21.200 uh I I'm just enamored with what he does
00:03:24.239 not only does he have you know a metric
00:03:26.720 ton of of normal guitar talent and
00:03:30.000 ability he also knows how to exploit
00:03:33.280 every tiny little bit uh that his gear
00:03:36.640 and effects can offer and knows how to
00:03:39.200 use them in such a musical way that it
00:03:42.000 is it's just it's a perfect blend and
00:03:44.480 then you pile all that stuff on the
00:03:47.280 parts that he writes and how he
00:03:48.959 structures these songs with the wild you
00:03:51.360 know time signature play and the feel
00:03:53.519 and the tempo moving around so much
00:03:56.880 [Music]
00:04:07.760 it's It's very active listening stuff to
00:04:09.840 be sure if you're looking for something
00:04:11.040 to play in the background this is
00:04:12.799 probably not it but if you like the
00:04:14.640 really active courageous music I think
00:04:17.680 this is just this has got it all over
00:04:19.839 the place i think courageous is a really
00:04:21.839 good word to describe them John i mean
00:04:24.240 it it the it's um they're they endeavor
00:04:27.199 to be different while also I would
00:04:30.080 assume taking bits and elements of what
00:04:32.720 has inspired them and applying it um but
00:04:35.680 it is a really great listen uh I went
00:04:38.000 back into their music library and uh you
00:04:41.120 really don't know what's around the
00:04:43.360 corner on the yellow brick road with
00:04:44.960 them it's uh it's a it's a treat um it's
00:04:48.720 an adventure the band is an adventure
00:04:51.120 and you know the new track is um if this
00:04:53.919 is a precursor to a full length then
00:04:56.240 we're in for a ride yeah I'm uh my
00:04:58.400 fingers are crossed real tightly that we
00:05:00.720 get more soon um I had uh I I exchanged
00:05:04.479 messages with Greg on one of the social
00:05:06.400 platforms a few years ago and he's he is
00:05:09.039 a really nice open friendly guy and uh
00:05:12.960 shout out you know Greg if if you happen
00:05:15.120 across this and we could get you on for
00:05:16.639 a chat we would love well I won't speak
00:05:18.400 for Derek I would love to talk to you
00:05:20.880 and bore the [ __ ] out of most people and
00:05:23.520 just talk gear and how you structure
00:05:25.919 songs man because it is just it's pure
00:05:28.240 insanity there's room for you here come
00:05:31.840 join with us Greg i'm happy to talk to
00:05:34.479 you if it means I don't have to talk to
00:05:36.000 John anymore that's fair that's fair
00:05:39.360 yeah I am i'm just I love it so much was
00:05:42.479 so excited when it came out i think it
00:05:44.080 came out on the 6th of this month so a
00:05:46.479 week or so ago that the track came out
00:05:48.560 and uh if as you said if it's any
00:05:50.720 indication of of of what's to come on a
00:05:53.360 forthcoming album my god I'm just going
00:05:55.199 to be over the moon with it is this this
00:05:57.520 track is so good it's so challenging to
00:06:00.639 listen to and I mean that in a very
00:06:02.960 positive way uh like I said it's it's
00:06:05.600 active listening music it's not
00:06:07.919 background stuff but that that stuff
00:06:09.759 gets me amped up i've like you I've had
00:06:11.919 this going on repeat for days now and
00:06:14.160 just my wife is ready to move out but
00:06:17.039 that's okay well I don't blame her on
00:06:19.600 that one either you're pretty
00:06:22.160 intolerable and insufferable in every
00:06:24.880 way just so full of yourself and super
00:06:27.440 arrogant and know everything about music
00:06:29.759 and it's just Yeah that's it's about the
00:06:31.840 music man it's about the music this week
00:06:33.759 I wanted to address those people that
00:06:35.199 claim that it's all about the music
00:06:37.199 there's a reason why you're banished out
00:06:38.960 to your garage you know your recording
00:06:40.880 studio all the time is cuz you're
00:06:42.400 [ __ ] annoying well I look I'm not
00:06:44.800 going to argue that point but I'm going
00:06:46.560 to be banished out here to my space
00:06:48.960 cranking stuff like carb bomb non-stop
00:06:51.840 so I'm okay with that you want to know
00:06:53.759 what's sick is people don't know you
00:06:55.919 know how hackers um will have kitty
00:06:58.160 litter boxes underneath them so they
00:07:00.400 don't they don't have to leave their
00:07:02.479 area and can keep hacking and and and
00:07:04.960 doing and doing spyware and doing it
00:07:07.039 well John does the same thing he sits
00:07:09.039 out in his studio cranking away making
00:07:11.840 music so much so that he forgoes the
00:07:14.639 diaper and just sits over a kitty litter
00:07:16.639 box it's disgusting hi guys so I wanted
00:07:19.360 to tell you about my favorite cat litter
00:07:21.199 that I think is out there i've just cut
00:07:23.039 a hole in the bottom of my desk chair
00:07:24.960 and I I don't move yeah yeah
00:07:26.880 everything's within arms reach for a
00:07:29.039 reason so Greg that might have done it
00:07:31.360 for you now you definitely want to join
00:07:33.919 us we or we've just sabotaged any chance
00:07:36.639 of him talking or anybody ever see us
00:07:39.680 yeah yeah yeah so all right well that's
00:07:41.680 that's all I got i just I had to jump on
00:07:43.599 and talk about it because I'm so excited
00:07:45.680 about uh about New Car Bomb and and you
00:07:48.080 should be too yeah it's a great song uh
00:07:50.960 totally worth your time and uh if you
00:07:53.440 are a one of our three listeners you
00:07:55.440 should definitely put it on repeat and
00:07:57.120 piss off whoever is in your orbit yeah
00:07:59.919 unless they've got excellent musical
00:08:01.280 taste in which case they'll be thrilled
00:08:03.680 exactly and if you like this stuff and
00:08:05.520 you like the kind of uh uh stuff that
00:08:07.599 Dererick and I chat about uh and you've
00:08:09.919 stuck with us this far if you could uh
00:08:12.400 subscribe to the the various channels
00:08:14.400 that would be great a like throw some
00:08:16.000 comments down love to hear what you guys
00:08:17.360 think about this record i think it's
00:08:19.280 exceptional uh music from them oh and
00:08:22.240 also there is a another YouTuber named
00:08:24.160 Key of Gibbs or Key of Gebs who calls
00:08:27.599 himself an old composer and he does
00:08:29.360 great reaction videos to all kinds of
00:08:32.159 music and somebody suggested that he do
00:08:33.839 a reaction video to peroxism uh this
00:08:36.799 track and he did and it's fantastic so
00:08:39.760 if you're a uh of the YouTuber ilk and
00:08:42.159 you like to sit around and burn time
00:08:44.080 watching internet videos check out Key
00:08:46.399 of Gebs his reaction video to this is
00:08:48.560 awesome as well so can I do my reaction
00:08:50.720 to it please oh my god how's that that's
00:08:54.640 good yeah okay that's good we'll we'll
00:08:57.440 we'll have our producer put some uh put
00:08:59.680 some funny sound effects for those who
00:09:01.200 are listening and not watching perfect
00:09:03.120 all right good [ __ ] man have a good
00:09:04.880 weekend dude we'll talk to you soon see
00:09:06.640 you
